Nonprofit Leadership

“A fundamental concern for others in our individual and community lives would go a long way in making the world
the better place we so passionately dream of.”
— Nelson Mandela

Not-for-profit or service-based organizations and their leadership have unique challenges that can interfere with important, vital services.  The nonprofit executive is often stretched to the max; overworked due to insufficient budgets and staffing or a dysfunctional board of directors. Additionally, the board of directors, a volunteer group, often lacks the resources or knowledge to skillfully carry out their responsibilities. I work with both board and staff leadership providing training, coaching, education and support. In my consultative role with executives, we examine leadership myths, pitfalls, boundaries, priorities, communication skills and how to shift the culture of the nonprofit back to one that embraces the mission and goals of the organization. Issues with mission drift, problem employees, siloed programs, negative publicity, or board or staff issues are addressed. I emphasize building a collaborative and engaged organization at all levels. My lived experience combined with years of leadership experience offers a unique consultative opportunity to leaders.

All the while, Louise has gained the love and valued respect of staff, colleagues and directors.” Whoever hires her next will be fortunate to benefit from her extensive skills, kind heart and wisdom.” — Jack Kornfield
